In the development of iglidur R as a plain bearing material, high performance and very low prices were the focus. Particularly in dry operation, a low coefficient of friction and wear must be achieved. Plain bearings made of iglidur R are supported by a combination of solid lubricants. The PTFE and silicone-free material achieves a very low coefficient of friction in dry operation and runs mostly free of stick-slip effects.
Tolerance and measurement system
Mounting dimensions and tolerances of iglidur plain bearings depend on the material and wall thickness. For each material, water absorption and thermal expansion are the determining factors. Plain bearings with low water absorption can be installed with smaller bearing clearances. The rule for wall thickness: the thicker the bearing wall, the greater the clearance.
